Tomato Rasam




  
  
Rasam is a soup made from tamarind or (lemon), tomato and 
some spices. I used no ready made rasam powder for this recipe. You can have this rasam as a soup too.. 

Ingredients:                                                   serve-2-3

     



                                                               

 Ripe Tomatoes --------3 nos
Tamarind ------------small  lemon size
or 
lemon
Black pepper ---------1ts--p
Cumin seeds  ---------1 tbsp
Red chili --------------2 no
Garlic cloves ---------6 nos ( medium size)
Curry leaves ----------few
Coriander leaves -----few
Turmeric powder-----1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds --------1 tsp
Asafoetida -----------1/4 tsp
Oil -------------------2 tbsp
Salt -----------------to taste


Method:

Grind  one red chili, black pepper, cumin seeds,curry leaves,and garlic cloves  in the mixer  without water to  small pieces.

                    

Boil the tomatoes and tamarind with 2 cups of water.


Once  cooled down, extract the juice with 1 cup of water 
and discard the tomatoes skin, seeds and pulp if any.

Heat a vessel in medium flame,add oil, mustard seeds,turmeric powder, asafoedia, red chili ,grounded items and saute for 1minute.



Add prepared   tomato juice, salt.and cook it starts to boil.

                   

Switch off the flame as soon as it has its first boil.



                  Pour this in a lemon juice bowl.


Put coriander leaves and  pour into a serving bowl.
