SOMAS







        For dough

                Maida/all purpose flour-----------1 cup
                Rava---------------------------------2 tbsp
                Salt-----------------------------------A pinch
                Ghee----------------------------------2 tsp
                Water--------------------------------as need




    For stuffing:
              
               Pottu kadalai/ Fried Gram Dal------1/2 cup
               Sugar-----------------------------------3/4 cup
               coconut grated-------------------------1/2 cup
               Elachi-/cardamom---------------------2nos
               Cashew nuts----------------------------10 nos
               Ghee-------------------------------------2tbsp

   Make dough:
               

             Mix maida,rava and salt well in a bowl with ghee.
             Add water little by little(it will need 3/4 cup}
            Knead to get a soft dough, covered and set aside for 45 minutes.

                                             
   Make stuffing:

          Grind sugar and Elachi to a fine powder and keep aside.
          Grind pottu kadalai also to a powder.
          Fry the cashew nuts with ghee in the kadai , takeout and
         cut into a very small pieces.
         After takeout the cashew nuts,add grated coconuts in that kadai ,
         and roast till slightly golden color.
         Mix pottu kadalai powder,powdered sugar, roasted coconut [after cool down]
         and set aside.

 

  Make somas:


  

                                Take the dough,knead it well.Take a small ball of dough and roll into thin layer.

                                            

 
                                       Now place1 tbsp stuffing powder in the middle of the circle.


                                                        

      Close it and use a cutter or knife to trim the edges.
                                             
                              
      Leave some area to sealed.Otherwise it will open while frying.
     Repeat the same process for the rest of the dough.
                              
   
                     Our prepared somas are all keep dry in the room temperature.

                                             

                                           
                       Deep fry in hot oil in medium flame both sides untill golden in color
