VENPONGAL

                        



Ingredients:

Raw Rice ---------------2cups ( pacharisi )
Green gram ------------1/4cup ( paciparuppu)
Black pepper ----------1tbsp (crashed)
Cumin seeds ----------1tbsp ( crashed)
Red chilly -------------1no ( broken in half )
Cashew nuts ----------5-6 nos
Curry leaves ----------few
Ghee--------------------2tbsp
   or
Ghee +oil--------------2tbsp

Method:


Heat a pan in medium flame, add Green Gram and roast till light brown in color.

 Wash the rice and roasted  green gram together.

 Take a cooker, add rice and green gram with 6 cups water and close the lid.

 Cook for one whistle and simmer for 5 minutes.

Once the cooker cools down, open the lid and smash
the content well.


Heat a small pan with ghee and add red chilly, cashew nuts, curry leaves, crushed black pepper and Cumin seeds.

Remove from flame when it gets golden color and
mix  with the venpongal.


It goes well with vada, sambar and coconut chutney.
